Choosing a Program

There are literally hundreds of summer language immersion programs available to teens and deciding which one is right for your child can be a daunting task! We've tried to narrow this down considerably by selecting a limited number of only the best teen programs out there.

Each of The Learning Traveller programs has been extensively evaluated and we handpick only those that will provide your child with the best possible language learning experience. And, in addition to offering great language and cultural immersion programs, we are committed to providing superb service and outstanding support from your first inquiry to your last day at the school (see Why work with us for more on the services we provide).

But with our line up of great programs, it can be hard to decide which program to commit to. Our goal is to help you and your child evaluate each of the options for their language of interest so we can help you select the one that's the perfect fit!

Here are just a few of the many considerations we'll explore together:

  • What language does your child want to focus on? If they have been studying French for 3 years but are struggling with the language, this may not be the best time to try a new language; instead, we might focus on 2 to 4 week intensive options that could take their existing French language skills to the next level.
  • What location will allow your child to do the things they really enjoy? If they aren't the museum type and prefer being physically active, we can look at beach or mountain locations where they can spend their non-classroom time enjoying the outdoors. If your son/daughter is a culture nut, we can review which city locations will give your child the best exposure to what they are most passionate about.
  • Why is your child doing an immersion program? If they have academic goals, we can look at programs that offer higher levels of lesson intensity. If they are more interested in the cultural and social side of the program we can focus on options that offer fewer lessons per week and plenty of time to explore places of interest with new friends.
  • How much independence is your child prepared to handle?  Even if they are accustomed to overnight camps, being in a foreign country is a whole different experience. We'll talk about some of the ups and downs that often come with experiences of this nature and look at program options that offer a level of independence that is right for your child.

You can navigate our various program options from the left hand menu or link to your child's language of interest below:
