Getting to Benalmadena

What airport should I arrive to?

For the Teen Homestay Program in Benalmadena, you should arrive to the Malaga International Airport where you will be met by a school chaperone in the arrival's hall. From Malaga, you will taken to your homestay in Benalmadena which is about 8 km from the Malaga International Airport.

When should I arrive?

You should plan to arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Sunday between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. For flights from the US/Canada this means leaving the US/Canada on a Saturday and flying overnight for a Sunday morning arrival in Europe.

How can I get to Malaga from the US/Canada?

There are no direct flights between the US/Canada and Malaga so you will need to change planes at an airport hub in the UK or Europe (typically London, Paris or Madrid). Here are some possibilities (your travel agent may have additional options):

  • Fly to London Heathrow on British Airways from the US/Canada - Fly to Malaga from London Heathrow on British Airways
  • Fly to Paris CDG on Air France from the US/Canada - Fly to Malaga from Paris CDG on Air France
  • Fly to Madrid on Iberia from the US/Canada - Fly to Malaga from Madrid on Iberia
  • Fly to Madrid on any commercial airline from the US/Canada - Fly to Malaga on Air Europa

I'm not comfortable making an overseas flight connection at an international airport

We completely understand your concern.  If this is your first independent overseas trip you may prefer to attend a program that does not involve an overseas flight connection. If this is the case, we suggest you consider either the Teen Residence Program in Tarragona or the Teen Homestay Program in Costa Rica.
