Getting to Biarritz

What airport should my son/daughter arrive to?

For the Teen Residence/Homestay Program in Biarritz you should arrive to the Biarritz International Airport where you will be met by a school chaperone in the arrival's hall (you can also arrive to the Biarritz train station where you will be met upon arrival).

When should my son/daughter arrive?

You should plan for your son/daughter to arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. For flights from the US/Canada this means leaving the US/Canada on a Saturday and flying overnight for a Sunday morning arrival in Europe.

How can my son/daughter get to Biarritz from the US/Canada?

There are no direct flights between the US/Canada and Biarritz so you will need to change planes at an airport hub in Europe (typically Paris). Here are some possibilities (your travel agent may have additional options):

  • Fly to Paris CDG on any commercial carrier from the US/Canada - Fly to Biarritz from Paris CDG on Easy Jet
  • Fly to Paris Orly on any commercia carrier from the US/Canada - Fly to Biarritz from Paris Orly on Air France
  • Fly to Paris CDG on Air France from the US/Canada - Take an Air France shuttle between CDG and Orly airports in Paris (approx. 50 minutes) - Fly to Biarritz from Paris Orly on Air France

I'm not comfortable with my child making an overseas flight connection at an international airport

We completely understand your concern.  Air France offers a special service called Planet Bleue for travellers between 5 and 17 who are travelleing without an adult. Click here for details on the services they offer.

If this is your child's first independent overseas trip you may prefer that they attend a program that does not involve an overseas flight connection. If this is the case, we suggest you consider either the Teen Residence Program in Paris for students 15 to 18 or the Teen Residence Program in Cannes for students 13 to 17.
